At Little Palm, we are working closely with BearyFun Gym for our gym program. We believe in equipping young children with the essential movement skills and nurturing them to be confident children in a fun environment. The Gym Program aims to develop the enthusiasm for physical activity and promote all-round physical development in the children. We emphasize on teaching the Dominant Movement Patterns (jumping and landing skills, rolling, balance, travelling), which are fundamental movement abilities required for work, sport and recreational activities.
Phonics helps children to decipher words. This skill allows them to learn new words independently and read more confidently. Phonics also helps children to increase their vocabulary and boost their ability to write. With good phonics skills, children are encourage to recognize text fluently and that boost their reading skills and comprehension. Phonics makes reading and writing fun!
Gardening / Outdoor Activities
Gardening is educational and develops new skills including:
Responsibility – from caring for plants.
Understanding – as they learn about cause and effect (for example, plants die without water, weeds compete with plants).
Self-confidence – from achieving their goals and enjoying the food they have grown.
Out door play allows children to enjoy the natural environment and learn to seek out exercise, fresh air, and activity. There is something fundamentally healthy about using the outdoors. Thus outdoor play develops disposition for the outdoors, for physical activity, and for care of the environment
Multiple Intelligence Program
A child may learn to read and write at a pace that matches their age-appropriate cognitive development. However, at the same time, this same child may struggle mathematically and be developing at a level that is below that deemed appropriate for their age.
Using Multiple Intelligence Program, children will be able to learn at their own pace, learn independently and teachers will have a better understanding of the children’s abilities. This program also help to build children’s confidence and can use their strength to build on their weakness.
